Sometimes there's just so much going on in the world of bingo that you forget to mention some notable events. A couple of those that were missed last time have been included in this episode. There are also a few little bingo related issues being chatted about. There's always something.
[00:00:04] It's not a game, it's a real stuff.
[00:00:08] Hello, and welcome to The Broke Bingo Addict.
[00:00:12] This is a podcast that ventures through the wild and crazy world of bingo.
[00:00:16] This is much more than your grandmother's bingo.
[00:00:20] My name's Shari, and welcome to this week's episode, which as always is for entertainment purposes only.
[00:00:27] Hi, everybody, and welcome to this week's episode of The Broke Bingo Addict.
[00:00:37] I've got a few things I want to talk about this week.
[00:00:40] No one particular overarching theme, just a few things that I just wanted to talk about.
[00:00:45] And the first thing being that the prior episode was talking about some of the upcoming events that are happening across the country.
[00:00:52] And for some unknown reason, I forgot about one that's happening so close to my area.
[00:01:00] It's actually going to be at Winters in Stockton, California.
[00:01:03] So not quite next door, but a little further north and not much of a drive.
[00:01:07] And one I absolutely want to attend, so I can't believe that I completely forgot about that.
[00:01:12] So just to give you some information, in case you didn't see it on my TikTok, this is, like I said, this is going to be happening at Winters Bingo Stockton.
[00:01:20] Okay, Winters Stockton.
[00:01:21] And it's happening on October 19th.
[00:01:24] Now, I'm going to release this on Wednesday, so you still have some time to get up there and go do that.
[00:01:29] If you want to purchase tickets for this event, you can go to the Bingo Me Now app.
[00:01:33] Although I do want to warn you, I don't know if it's just for Southern California or what it is,
[00:01:37] but when you go to the Bingo Me Now app, the basic app, when you click on it for Winters Bingo,
[00:01:41] it's also going to make you sign up for the Bingo Me Now Plus app.
[00:01:46] That's where you actually have to go if you want to buy tickets for this event.
[00:01:50] The initial buy-in is $150.
[00:01:53] Now, for that amount of money, you're going to get two of each game, okay?
[00:01:57] All games pay $5,000, okay?
[00:02:01] Which is exactly why my little buddy is going up there.
[00:02:03] So not only do you get the two of each game, but you're also going to have the Powerball included with that.
[00:02:09] So I think it's a massive Powerball.
[00:02:11] I have to go back and look.
[00:02:12] So again, that's to start out with.
[00:02:14] You get two of each game for $150, but you can keep doubling that up for an extra $100.
[00:02:20] So for $250, you get four of each game.
[00:02:23] And then for $350, you get six of each game.
[00:02:27] So you can just increase your chances to win that $5,000.
[00:02:32] And as I mentioned, the Powerball is included with that buy-in.
[00:02:36] But for reference sake, they don't actually have an amount listed for what the Powerball is right now.
[00:02:41] It is to be announced.
[00:02:42] But I can tell you from past experience for the one time that I went up there,
[00:02:46] I'm sure it's going to be a pretty significant Powerball.
[00:02:50] But in addition to that, they also have a bingo shark strip that must go at $10,000,
[00:02:57] as well as a Monopoly game that's paying $2,000.
[00:03:00] So there's a lot of cash that's kind of being thrown around up there.
[00:03:04] And like I said, I absolutely plan on attending this thing.
[00:03:07] I know the doors open at 1 o'clock.
[00:03:09] And I think, yeah, the doors open at 1 o'clock.
[00:03:12] And the game doesn't start till 530.
[00:03:14] And personally, I think it's fine to go early, get a seat if you want.
[00:03:17] It's a pretty large room.
[00:03:18] They have a couple of sections there.
[00:03:19] They've got a couple of sections that are closed off.
[00:03:22] And then there's a much larger main room, I think.
[00:03:25] And then they also have a snack bar if you're worried about that,
[00:03:27] which I always think is important to know if you're going someplace.
[00:03:30] They do have a snack bar up there.
[00:03:32] And for those of you who like to imbibe, there's also a bar.
[00:03:36] This is connected to, I think, like a racing hall type situation.
[00:03:40] So you can also buy alcohol there if you want to.
[00:03:43] So that's a pretty nice event that's happening.
[00:03:45] Again, that's happening Saturday in Stockton, California,
[00:03:49] at Winner's Bingo, which is not to be confused with their Tracy location.
[00:03:53] So if you haven't been up there before, please make sure that you know the difference between
[00:03:57] the Winner's Stockton and the Winner's Tracy location.
[00:04:00] I think they're pretty close to each other.
[00:04:01] So anyway, that's not the only one I missed.
[00:04:05] There's another event happening.
[00:04:07] It's happening at the Turning Stone Casino.
[00:04:09] Now, that's in Verona, New York.
[00:04:12] To be specific, the address is 5218 Patrick Road.
[00:04:18] Again, Verona, New York.
[00:04:19] If you want to call, you can.
[00:04:20] You can reach them at 1-800-347-9086.
[00:04:26] And again, that's happening this Saturday, October 19th.
[00:04:29] And it says, when your share of over $250,000.
[00:04:34] Now, they've got a lot of games going on.
[00:04:36] I looked at their little website and they've got so much going on.
[00:04:38] They've got early birds.
[00:04:40] They've got super minis.
[00:04:41] They've got warm-ups.
[00:04:42] And then they have the main session.
[00:04:44] So each of those sections are paying something slightly different.
[00:04:48] The early birds are paying $100.
[00:04:50] The minis are $500.
[00:04:52] And the warm-ups are $1,000.
[00:04:53] While the main session is paying $10,000 for those games.
[00:04:58] And that includes actually a pick eight.
[00:05:01] So if you win the pick eight with 20 numbers or less, it's paying $25,000.
[00:05:07] So that looks like that's going to be a pretty fun event.
[00:05:11] The doors are going to open at 9 a.m.
[00:05:13] And the early birds will be starting at 10.15.
[00:05:17] You're talking super minis at 11.15.
[00:05:19] Warm-ups at 12.30.
[00:05:21] And the main session starts at 1 o'clock.
[00:05:24] Okay, so I got those out of the way.
[00:05:28] I know there's so many other things.
[00:05:29] There are a lot of birthdays going on.
[00:05:31] There are going to be a lot of Halloween things going on.
[00:05:34] I'm sure there's going to be stuff for Christmas.
[00:05:35] But those are a couple of kind of high-stakes events that I wanted to get out there.
[00:05:40] And I feel bad that I forgot to mention them last week.
[00:05:42] So anyway, if you're free this weekend, absolutely.
[00:05:45] Either on the East Coast or the West Coast, those are a couple of things that you can check out.
[00:05:50] Now, moving on to a couple of things I just ponder about.
[00:05:53] And in particular, it actually kind of connects to some of these events that are happening this weekend
[00:05:57] and some of the other ones that are happening, you know, in the upcoming months that I've talked about.
[00:06:01] And it's like, when you go to these events and they're not cheap.
[00:06:08] Okay, like I said, the stuff for winners, you're going to talk your basic buy-in is 150.
[00:06:13] You can max it out, I think, to 350.
[00:06:15] I don't know if they let you go any higher than that.
[00:06:17] But they're going to have a lot of other things.
[00:06:19] They're going to be pool tabs galore.
[00:06:22] They're going to be pool tabs out your booty.
[00:06:25] And you're going to buy those pool tabs because we love the pool tabs and the strips and all that stuff.
[00:06:30] So the question is this.
[00:06:31] I went up there last time.
[00:06:33] I think I went up there in February and it was my first time being there.
[00:06:36] So that in and of itself was exciting because I knew there were going to be a lot of people that I want to see,
[00:06:41] people that I've spoken to or at least chatted with, I guess, on TikTok
[00:06:44] or people that I've seen at other locations down here that I also knew were going to go up there.
[00:06:49] So it was really pretty exciting for me to go up there in the first place.
[00:06:53] They were doing that $5,000 stuff again in the 2000 or whatever in the high Powerball payout.
[00:06:59] But you do want to win and you're seeing other people win.
[00:07:01] And my question is, before you go up there, I wonder if people go up there with the mindset of just going to have fun,
[00:07:09] whether you're going to win or whether you're going to lose.
[00:07:13] Or do some people put so much money into it, it's like, I have to win.
[00:07:17] I've invested this amount of money.
[00:07:19] You know, and obviously it can go into thousands.
[00:07:22] Do you have to win?
[00:07:23] And if you don't win after you've spent that much money, are you able to enjoy the event just on the level that it was something fun to do?
[00:07:31] And you had the opportunity to win and you're doing something that you absolutely love.
[00:07:35] And again, doing it with people that you know or people that you want to know or people who just enjoy doing the same kind of activity that you do.
[00:07:43] So I wonder about that.
[00:07:44] I try to keep that in mind.
[00:07:46] And I play with my friend Pam and we go out there.
[00:07:49] And when we don't win, which is a lot, whenever we're on the way home, it's like, you know what?
[00:07:55] You knew it was gambling before you started.
[00:07:57] And we never kind of worry if we didn't win.
[00:08:00] We're like, we had a good time.
[00:08:01] We got out of the house, which tends to be the biggest thing right there is getting out of the house.
[00:08:06] I just wonder when you're paying so much money, how easy it is for everybody to keep that kind of frame of mind that whether you win or lose,
[00:08:13] you're just going out there to have a good time.
[00:08:15] And so you don't get depressed no matter how much you spend.
[00:08:18] Because I'm also going to do the one at South Point.
[00:08:19] So right after I do this one at Winners, I'm going to turn around and then go to Vegas about a week or so later and play the tournament that they're having at South Point,
[00:08:29] which is, again, you know, it's not a cheap event to buy in at.
[00:08:32] Thank God they don't have pool tabs.
[00:08:34] If they had pool tabs, I would just be lost because basically you're just paying a certain amount of money.
[00:08:39] Not that it's cheap, but still, you're only paying a certain amount of money.
[00:08:42] You don't have to worry about pool tabs being sold throughout the day.
[00:08:45] But there is a certain disappointment when you don't win.
[00:08:48] So I don't want to sit there and act like I'm not disappointed.
[00:08:51] You're absolutely like, shucks.
[00:08:53] Particularly at South Point, I had played South Point several times before I finally won.
[00:08:58] So I don't know if you guys have heard that in prior episodes.
[00:09:00] I think I had played five times where I didn't win.
[00:09:04] And like the one before I finally did win, like people who came, a bunch of people I knew came and I was hanging out with them.
[00:09:10] And they all won on some level.
[00:09:12] They all won something.
[00:09:13] And I still didn't win.
[00:09:14] So it was a little, you know, you're not sad, but it is a little disheartening.
[00:09:17] So it was really nice when last November I had my first big win at any of these tournaments or events that I've gone to.
[00:09:25] But particularly at South Point, I split $25,000.
[00:09:27] So that was nice.
[00:09:28] But I do think in order to enjoy yourself, in order to have a good time, you have to keep that mindset that whether you win or lose, it's just about having a good time.
[00:09:37] So whatever amount of money I'm spending, it has to be money that I'm willing to part with no matter what.
[00:09:43] Like it's not detrimental if for some reason I invested, you know, hundreds or thousands, which by the way, I've never invested thousands.
[00:09:51] But if I've invested hundreds of dollars and I didn't win, you know, I have to be able to say, oh, but I had a good time and walk away and just enjoy it for what it is.
[00:10:00] And I'm hoping, like I said, that other people have that same attitude and aren't discouraged or bummed out too desperately if they don't win anything.
[00:10:07] So I'm happy to see what's going to happen this weekend when I go up to winners.
[00:10:12] So it would be really cool to win something.
[00:10:14] Even if you split, it would just be cool to say bingo at this particular event because I haven't done it before.
[00:10:19] So anyway, that's one of my big thoughts.
[00:10:22] My other thought, which is kind of, you know, a little off target a little bit, is that winning does make it a lot more fun.
[00:10:29] Not going to lie.
[00:10:29] Winning absolutely makes playing bingo a lot more fun.
[00:10:33] But like I said, Pam and I go.
[00:10:35] Oh, we have a great time and we've gone on definite streaks where we haven't won a dime and we just keep on going.
[00:10:40] Again, getting out the house and doing something that we love.
[00:10:43] But this past weekend, I was playing with Pam and we went and played at Cry Help Bingo, which is a place that I like.
[00:10:50] And I like it because it keeps me from spending too much money.
[00:10:54] For those of you who don't know, when you play bingo at Cry Help, Mike has it set up that they sell all the pool tabs early on.
[00:11:02] Okay.
[00:11:02] 90% of the time, all the pool tabs are sold out before the first bingo game even starts.
[00:11:09] Right.
[00:11:09] I think they sell an average of about, I don't know, like 11 or 12 pool tabs.
[00:11:13] They sell about three or four of the 2398 pool tabs.
[00:11:19] And I guess they call it flash out there.
[00:11:21] But anyway, so whatever it is, you need to buy it in a certain amount of time because when it's done, it's done.
[00:11:29] Okay.
[00:11:30] And we like that because, again, then if you win some money, you're kind of keeping that money because you're not going to spend it on buying more pool tabs.
[00:11:36] But anyway, a lot of times when you go and you spend your money and you can have whatever set amount of money that you have set up.
[00:11:44] Okay.
[00:11:45] You've determined you're going to spend this much money or whatever and you go and you buy your pool tabs.
[00:11:49] And I was just thinking how funny it is that some weeks you can buy a ton of pool tabs, an absolute ton of pool tabs, and not get a number or get like one number.
[00:12:02] I've done that where you've bought like 40 pool tabs and, you know, one stack or whatever, and you didn't get a number out of that.
[00:12:07] And I've seen people do that.
[00:12:08] But there are other times when you go and you buy pool tabs and you only buy a few, like three or four, and you get two numbers out of the three.
[00:12:15] Or, you know, we've all seen it when you buy one and you get a number for that one.
[00:12:20] So it's just interesting that sometimes you have those days and sometimes you don't.
[00:12:24] And, again, I bring this up because Pam and I were at CryHelp and we were buying pool tabs.
[00:12:30] And we actually bought like the same amount that we usually buy.
[00:12:32] We like for there we have a set amount that we do.
[00:12:35] And we bought the same amount.
[00:12:36] And usually we get a pretty good array of the pool tabs that Mike is selling.
[00:12:41] But for whatever reason, Pam and I only each get like four.
[00:12:44] We got practically nothing.
[00:12:47] Even the ones that are like usually almost always guaranteed like jackpot five.
[00:12:51] We didn't get bupkis.
[00:12:52] But the interesting thing is, although this is one of the lowest amount of pool tabs that we actually ended up getting,
[00:12:59] on the very first one they played, which was called Payday, Pam actually ended up winning.
[00:13:05] That was $1,500.
[00:13:06] And what was so cool about it is it was one of those times where it's an either or pool tab.
[00:13:14] So you have two numbers in B-I-N-G-O.
[00:13:16] You had to get one of either of those two numbers in each one.
[00:13:19] And they also had some of those pool tabs that had a free spot in it, okay?
[00:13:22] And Pam actually had the free spot for the letter O.
[00:13:26] So when they're calling the numbers, it couldn't have been more than like eight or nine numbers.
[00:13:30] And you only needed max five numbers, right?
[00:13:33] So max you only needed five.
[00:13:34] Pam only needed four.
[00:13:36] And son of a gun, if Pam didn't get those four numbers, we were just looking going,
[00:13:40] oh my God, oh my God, oh my God.
[00:13:42] You just need one more number.
[00:13:43] And son of a gun, we looked up and her number was in the window.
[00:13:46] So Pam got that.
[00:13:47] So my question is, how often does that happen to you?
[00:13:51] That never happens to me.
[00:13:52] We were playing Spirit Change the other day and I only needed three numbers.
[00:13:58] As most of you know, you only need three numbers on Spirit Change.
[00:14:01] The first two numbers that came out were my two numbers, right?
[00:14:05] Ba-boom, ba-boom.
[00:14:07] Couldn't get that third number for anything.
[00:14:10] But meanwhile, the person who did win, they called all their numbers back to back.
[00:14:15] Ba-boom, ba-boom, ba-boom.
[00:14:16] And they won.
[00:14:17] So it's just interesting.
[00:14:18] I just don't know if that drives people crazy when you sit there and you get,
[00:14:22] maybe you need five numbers and you get the first four numbers with no problem.
[00:14:26] They knock those suckers right out.
[00:14:27] And then you're just waiting and waiting and waiting.
[00:14:31] And they will not call that number.
[00:14:32] Or even worse, there's the other two options that are even worse.
[00:14:36] You need B13 and you're waiting and waiting on B13 and they call B12 and somebody wins.
[00:14:44] Okay?
[00:14:45] So that's the other question.
[00:14:46] Is it more irritating that if you're waiting for a particular number like B13 and they call
[00:14:51] B12 or vice versa and that messes you up?
[00:14:55] Or is it even more irritating when they call B12, somebody says, bingo, and your number,
[00:15:01] B13, pops up when you're being monitored.
[00:15:03] So which is worse?
[00:15:05] Is it worse to be monitored?
[00:15:07] Or is it worse when you've lost by the number that's one off from the number that you needed?
[00:15:12] So anyway, I always just wonder about that because it can be so just like going to pull your hair out when something like that happens.
[00:15:19] But that, again, is part of the game.
[00:15:22] Now, the other thing I want to touch back on because I know I've talked about it before, but the ambiance.
[00:15:26] What do you think about the ambiance, the people that you're playing with, the surroundings?
[00:15:32] You know, there are a lot of people who like to sit in their own little space, which is me.
[00:15:37] I have my own little corner that I usually like to sit in or my own little spot that a lot of people have that they just like to sit in the same place all the time.
[00:15:43] There are other people who just like to go and whatever and they don't mind.
[00:15:46] They're just happy to be there and enjoy the people that are around them.
[00:15:50] But I also know there are people who like certain things to happen.
[00:15:54] Like I know recently there was a TikTok where Big Vin was talking about the fact that he was not allowed to do the cowbell.
[00:16:02] Big Vin likes to use his cowbell.
[00:16:04] And if you don't know, Big Vin is one of those lovely little TikTokers out there that I know well.
[00:16:08] And he loves his cowbell.
[00:16:10] He also loves to scream really loud when he wins.
[00:16:14] And personally, I think it's hilarious.
[00:16:16] But I know that there are people who actually do get irritated by that.
[00:16:20] It's not just Big Vin.
[00:16:21] There are other people, too, and they don't like the cowbell and things like that or other people making noise.
[00:16:26] They don't like the duck or whatever.
[00:16:28] So I just wonder about the ambiance because I was actually playing with some people last night.
[00:16:34] And I was in the zone.
[00:16:35] I was kind of sitting in a section by myself and really relaxing and thinking it was really nice.
[00:16:40] This was, by the way, at the bingo club.
[00:16:42] And they have different sessions.
[00:16:43] And I was playing the first and second session.
[00:16:46] And while I was playing the first session, I was in my little spot.
[00:16:50] I could see the monitor well.
[00:16:52] Like, you know, everything was going nice and quiet and calm.
[00:16:55] I had something to eat.
[00:16:56] I was completely relaxed and enjoying it.
[00:16:59] But when it came time for the second session, there was a mother and daughter that came and sat right next to me.
[00:17:05] Which, by the way, the bingo club is freaking huge.
[00:17:07] Seriously?
[00:17:08] You're going to sit right next to me?
[00:17:09] But anyway, so they sat right next to me.
[00:17:11] And right away, I kind of got irritated.
[00:17:14] Again, because there were a lot of other places to sit.
[00:17:17] But, you know, then you have to stop and say, you can't let that ruin your mood.
[00:17:22] You're all there to have a good time.
[00:17:24] And they were hilarious.
[00:17:26] They were cracking me up.
[00:17:28] They were so funny.
[00:17:29] They had all these little weird little things as mother and daughters who play bingo a lot together.
[00:17:32] They have all these little games they play amongst each other.
[00:17:35] You know, they even played one strip together, which was really weird to see.
[00:17:39] One person got to dob a certain area of the strip.
[00:17:42] The other one got to dob the other area of the strip.
[00:17:44] So it's funny.
[00:17:44] I've never seen two people play one strip together.
[00:17:47] But it was fun.
[00:17:47] And at the end of the night, I really had a good time sitting by them.
[00:17:51] And I just realized that that was my own kind of attitude problem to get annoyed by other people.
[00:17:57] Which is, again, to say that with people who yell or people who ring the cowbell or whatever.
[00:18:01] That's your own issue to make that ruin your fun.
[00:18:05] You shouldn't let anything bother you if you're having a good time.
[00:18:08] And other people should have the right to enjoy their time too.
[00:18:12] So anyway, that was just funny to me that it ended up being such a nice night when I had an attitude for a minute about, you know, wanting my own space.
[00:18:20] So there.
[00:18:22] Anyway, like I said, this wasn't anything particular.
[00:18:26] Just stuff that I wanted to get off my chest and talk about it.
[00:18:28] I hope you enjoyed it.
[00:18:30] And more importantly, I hope you'll come back for the next episode.
[00:18:33] So thanks so much for listening.
[00:18:35] Bye.
[00:18:36] It's not a game.
[00:18:37] It's a real step.
